Welcome to Art by Kathy. Kathy Crew Christian was born in 1946 in
the community of Wauseon, Ohio. She grew up on a small farm until
she attended college at Bowling Green State University in Bowling
Green, Ohio. She also received a Masters Degree in Humanities from
John Carroll University with a concentration on art history. Her
college experience was focused on art education. Kathy pursued her
art-teaching career in Fostoria, OH, Ashland, OH, and Sydney,
Australia and ended a 32-teaching career in Solon, OH.
Kathy has also taught pottery and drawing at the Valley Art
Center in Chagrin Falls, OH, where she served as a board member in
charge of hiring faculty and scheduling classes for several years.
Kathy has been involved in her art career since childhood.
“Because of many learning disabilities, I hated school and lived for
the once a week art class that was offered in my grade school. I
think I would have dropped out of 2nd grade if it would
not have been for my art class. It was in that special place that I
experienced my first trip to the moon long before Neil Armstrong set
foot on the surface. The imagination is a wonderful thing. I feel we
need to leave more to our imaginations in our over stimulated
world.”
